Day 145 - all the trimmings

Chris and Earl have been onsite this week trimming up various parts of the house. Around the windows, baseboards, doors frame, very exciting stuff, really makes things start to look finished.

All this in preparation for the painters coming mid next week.

We are still behind the eight ball on the rest of the work however. I have not detailed why but unfortunately the trade that we had set to do trim, tiling, install basement windows, hang vanities, etc, over committed himself and won't be able to get back to us for a few more weeks, maybe not until October. Not good. Buy me a beer and I will give you my whole rant on this.

We got VERY lucky that Chris and Earl had some time this week to trim, needless to say I have been trying every available avenue to find someone to fill in for the lost resources. Tiling is the most critical as the bathrooms can't be finished until this work is complete. Stay tuned.

Day 140 - update on lack of updates

No updates of late because we've been away at the cottage.
Trim work starts next week so should have some more to show soon. Stay tuned.

Day 132 - kitchen and shelving install complete

The cabinets are in. Doesn't look finished without the counter and appliances in but the cabinetry is in and done.

It'll be a few more weeks before it is 100% done but things look good so far! (And without TOO many issues discovered)

Day 128 - Appliances!

Seems like a thousand years ago that we ordered these, Friday they finally arrived. This kitchen thing is really starting to come together. Clearly you can see that the back door came in handy to get the big items inside.

Day 126 - putting it all together

Chris and his brother Earl arrived Tuesday and quickly began unpacking boxes and laying out the kitchen, pantry, and family room shelving. It will take a couple weeks to get it all together but you can see it starting to take shape quickly! Looks good so far and most things fit the way they are supposed too :)

Day 121 - the kitchen cometh

Made a trip in from the cottage to carry 75 boxes (yep 75) off the truck and into the house. Special thanks for my buddy and neighbour Chris Little for the help carrying them all in. I'm not sure he knew quite what he was getting himself into when he agreed to assist when my previous assistant bailed last minute! The reality hit him (and me) after 30 boxes when he hadn't yet made a bent in the pile remaining in the truck.

They are now completely filling the living room and dining room waiting to be installed starting Tuesday!
