Day 113 - Flooring!

Materials arrived Tuesday (all 60 boxes of it) and today the next major step in the project, new flooring!!

The guys started upstairs in the master bedroom and so far it looks great.
We have some timing issues on the main floor as Jeremy still has the scaffolding up to do the trim around the light well windows but hopefully we can sort it out without too much headache for all parties involved.

All I know is that they both have to be done by Thursday because that is when THE KITCHEN GETS DELIVERED. Very excited about that and excited for that installation to start the following Monday.

Day 104 - starting to get messy

The guys are busy 'mudding and taping' the house. First could of pics are of the completed work in the basement.

Meanwhile upstairs check out the awesome stilts being used to reach the ceiling!

Hanging out in the light well - where the temperatures up high are outrageous

More cool stilts and a 'mud and tape' gun. It's all about having the right tools

Day 100 - Finally, windows!

After much ado, the windows are finally in, both upstairs and on the main floor.

They look great, tons of light. I've included a couple of interim shots along the way.

The first thing I noticed about the final product on the main floor is how much you can see the back yard... in whatever condition it happens to be in. We're going to need to keep it MUCH cleaner than we did before :)

Day 98 - some window progress

Some guys who know what they are doing, have been at the house the last couple of days putting our windows in - FINALLY!!!

Below you can see the scaffolding that they set up to get the windows up to the roof and second floor. Serious business.

The final picture is off the windows installed in the light well - looking up from the inside - I couldn't get up onto the roof to see them from the other side. Looks nice and the big ones are going in tomorrow. Very excited, it has been a long wait. Stay tuned.

Day 95 - It's been a while

A lot of time has passed since the last update - the work continues though it doesn't like there is that much to share.

In a story for another post, the windows have arrived but are still not in, the gentleman who was going to install them nailed just days before the scheduled start date. He was scared off by the Ministry of Labour situation - don't ask. After some scrambling around we found someone else to come in and he starts tomorrow. I'm excited to show some pics of installed windows soon, for now the best I have is pictures of them sitting inside and outside the house. Did I mention they are huge and heavy and some required as many as 6 people to move them off the truck!

Meanwhile Jeremy has been working away and the drywall is up in the majority of the house.  The place is starting to look like a house again which is great.

We have chosen to go with a somewhat modern baseboard design where it sits flush with the drywall.  No pics to show quite yet though.

Meanwhile,  flooring is supposed to be installed the week of July 20 and the kitchen gets delivered the week following so the progress continues.
