We took our first of many, many, many steps this weekend to start taking things out of the basement. It became clear that we are not going to have nearly the space in the living room that I (Mike) had hoped we would for storage. We are going to need somewhere to put things sooner rather than later.
To Jodi's credit she anticipated this and hopes to have a rental for us to start moving things into a few weeks. If we find somewhere with onsite storage then we won't have to rental a locker or a bin.
In construction news we didn't make much in the way of progress this past week with additional trades. The framer who was recommended has been AWOL and another passed on the project. Meanwhile our third potential 'foreman', Doug Rigaux is likewise unresponsive. So we will decide this week between Jeremy and Angelo.
We tried our hand at the GTA Home Reno show this weekend, unfortunately we didn't get anything out of it, very few vendors we could approach for the project.
Eleanor is coming by this week to move the kitchen conversation forward and we received a number of siding samples in the mail, there are some promising wood pieces but I need to figure out if they are in our price range (I fear they are not). Speaking of price range, initial quotes on the back windows have come in - yikes. It is a marquee part of the project so we're going to run with it but quite a bit more than we had thought back when first imagining the budget for the project.
We are both very excited and eager to get started, emotionally we are ready to go, physically we have a long long way to go.
